According to Manchester Police Department, a driver had a medical emergency on Tuesday and collided with a utility pole, leaving two citizens of Ocean County hospitalized.

Officers arrived at the site and found a black 2020 Honda SUV with significant front end damage facing west on the eastbound grass shoulder of State Highway 70.

According to the inquiry, the Honda was going east on State Highway 70 when the driver experienced a medical issue that caused the car to veer to the right off the road.

The Honda went about 55 feet in the grass shoulder after pulling off the road before hitting the utility pole.

The Honda struck the utility pole first, spinning around ninety degrees before coming to a final rest on the grass shoulder of State Highway 70, which was traveling east.

The driver of the Honda, identified as 72-year-old, Michael R. Kehrle of Manchester, NJ, suffered chest and neck injuries. Mr. Kehrle was flown via medevac to Jersey Shore University Hospital in Neptune, NJ.

The occupant of the Honda, identified as 67-year-old, Leslie A. Kehrle of Manchester, NJ, suffered injuries to her head. Mrs. Kehrle was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, NJ for further evaluation of her injuries.

Both occupants of the Honda were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash. All individuals involved in the crash are listed in stable condition at this time.
