ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — Authorities are investigating a late-night shooting in Atlantic City that left a teenage girl critically injured.

According to police, officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 600 block of New York Avenue at approximately 11:43 p.m. on June 2.

When officers arrived, they located a 16-year-old girl suffering from a severe gunshot wound. Emergency responders transported her to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Police said the girl's injuries were considered life-threatening at the time, but she is expected to recover.

Investigators have not released additional details about the incident, and the investigation remains ongoing.
