39 E Water St, Toms River, NJ 08753

Huddy Park's history and the origin of its name are explained through interpretive markers located all around it.

Huddy commanded the local militiamen in a battle on March 24, 1782, to defend Toms River against an assault by British forces and their Loyalist allies.

Toms River was set on fire and left in ruins, and nine Patriots were slain.

Huddy was apprehended and put to death without a hearing. His wrongful execution led to a global crisis that prevented the Treaty of Paris from being signed, which would have officially put an end to the American Revolution and established the world's newest sovereign and democratic nation.
