Over 133 Animals Rescued in Brick Township
According to Brick Township Police Department, they received a call from a resident who lives on Mantoloking Road in Brick Township on Friday night, May 5.
The resident, Jeffrey Finlay, made the request for help because there were too many animals inside his own home. Due to limited resources, it took more than 24 hours for all workers engaged to transport the animals from the residence to the proper care facilities. There were 130 cats and 3 dogs in total that were evicted from the home.
Brick Township Police Humane Law Enforcement Officer Scott Smith responded to the residence due to the nature of the issue. According to Smith, all of the animals are awaiting veterinary reports and appear to have been fed appropriately. The Ocean County Health Department is in charge of the Northern and Southern Ocean County Animal Facilities, which are housing all animals.
Brick Township resident, Jeffrey Finlay was charged with NJ 4:22-17a(4) disorderly persons offense: failure to provide care of a living animal or creature, and two township ordinance violations: Failure to license an animal and violating the prohibition against harboring five or more cats/dogs/ combination.
