23-Year-Old Worker Dies in Tragic Accident

According to police, a 23-year-old man was working at a condominium complex in Egg Harbor Township on Tuesday when a concrete slab collapsed on top of him, killing him.

According to police, the man was a member of a roofing crew that was cleaning up at the end of the day after doing construction and demolition work on the outside of the Clubs at Tilton.
Two units in the complex have second-floor staircases that connect halfway down and combine into a single staircase that leads to the ground floor. There is a concrete slab at the merge.

Just after 3 p.m., the slab collapsed on top of the man, whose identity is being kept secret until his family is notified, according to police.

Due to serious internal injuries, the man was transported to AtlanticCare Atlantic City. Police say he was declared dead during emergency surgery. Until the victim's family was notified, the police did not reveal the victim's name.
Volunteer firefighters from Egg Harbor Township had to assist in the ladder evacuation of a mother and her two children who were in one of the second-floor apartments. According to police, Clubs at Tilton management temporarily relocated them to a hotel, where they will remain until further notice.

The building inspector from the township also showed up at the scene. According to the police, OSHA has been informed.
