Ocean County Man Dies After Being Hit by a Vehicle

The Barnegat Police Department, along with multiple emergency response teams, responded to a tragic motor vehicle accident early this morning. At approximately 1:00 a.m. a 41-year-old driver of a 2025 Honda Pilot called police and reported that he struck a male who was lying in the roadway.

Preliminary investigations indicate that a male appeared to have been ejected from his electric skateboard before the incident occurred. He was found lying on West Bay Avenue near Sandpiper Road. Despite the efforts of responding emergency personnel, including Quality Medical and paramedic teams. The 36 year old Barnegat resident was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The roadway was temporarily closed for over three hours to facilitate a thorough investigation conducted by the Barnegat Traffic Safety Unit and the Ocean County Crime Scene Investigation Unit. The driver of the Honda pilot was released from the scene and there are no charges pending at this time.
