Anne Rasmussen, 58 Years Old
A 58-year-old nurse has been confirmed as the victim of a fatal head-on collision resulting from a wrong-way driver on Route 70 early Friday morning.
Anne Rasmussen, a resident of the Whiting area in Manchester, lost her life in the incident that occurred around 5 a.m. near the Lowe's home improvement store in Brick, as reported by the
Ocean County Prosecutor's Office on Saturday.
At the time of the crash, Rasmussen was traveling westbound on Route 70 in her Volkswagen Beetle when her vehicle was struck head-on by a Toyota RAV4 operated by 53-year-old Jose Romero Quinteros from Howell, according to the prosecutor's office.
Romero Quinteros has been charged with driving under the influence and reckless driving, as reported by the prosecutor's office. He was operating his vehicle eastbound in the westbound lanes, violating the concrete barrier that separates the two directions. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Quinteros required extraction from his Toyota and is currently in critical but stable condition at
Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, according to authorities.
Rasmussen, who tragically lost her life at the scene, was returning home from work at the time of the accident, as indicated by a
GoFundMe campaign established by her daughter, Kelly Kracsun.
The prosecutor's office is encouraging individuals with any information to contact Detective Joseph Mitchell at 732-929-2027, extension 3532, or Officer David Thergesen of the Brick Township Police Department at 732-262-1100.
