Two Ocean County Students Honored
At its annual board meeting, Junior Achievement (JA) of New Jersey (JANJ) recently honored the winners of the 2023 High School Hero Scholar Awards.
Congratulations to Abena Konadu and Allison Gilbert from
Manchester Township High School who are both students at Drexel University and George Mason University, respectively. Only two of the six students in New Jersey who applied for these scholarships were chosen!
In order to honor excellent students who have participated as classroom volunteers through JA High School Heroes and to highlight the value of education and job preparation, Pamela Craig co-founded the JA High School Hero Scholar Award in 2015.
The Scholar Award Initiative has and will continue to influence the lives of young adults throughout the state of New Jersey because of the extraordinary generosity, vision, and leadership of Ms. Craig.
JANJ is committed to providing New Jersey students with the employability and life skills necessary for successful futures as a cornerstone of its purpose.
The JANJ High School Heroes program encourages students to serve as role models for local youngsters while also honing their own leadership, presenting, time-management, and teamwork abilities.
Tens of thousands of kids across the state benefit from the career preparedness, money management, and entrepreneurship learning experiences that are brought to life by thousands of Heroes each school year.
JA of New Jersey offers all materials, lessons, and training at no cost to schools and families.
JA of New Jersey (JANJ) is an award-winning, free educational resource JA operation dedicated to providing New Jersey’s youth with relevant experiential education in financial literacy, career readiness, entrepreneurship, and life skills. Manchester Township High School has a robust Junior Achievement program full of high school volunteers.
