"Community Rallying Behind Brick Postal Carrier After Tragic Family Loss"
A devastating house fire killed four Lanoka Harbor residents this week. Members in the community are already raising funds to assist the Wright family in the aftermath.
Officials said the Buttonwood Drive residence burned down on Tuesday, most likely due to an incorrectly tossed cigarette.
A GoFundMe campaign was started by a coworker of Daniel Wright, a family member who works as a postal carrier at the Brick Post Office.
The fire killed Jennifer Wright, 39, Alaina Wright, 34, a 14-year-old girl, and a 4-month-old newborn, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer. "This is an unspeakable tragedy, and our hearts go out to the victims' families."
Brenda Wright, 67, was rescued from the back of the house and was reported in stable condition at an unnamed hospital.
In addition, another
gofundme set up by family member John Mulligan had raised more than $14,000.
All donations will be used to cover funeral expenses and to assist the family in rebuilding, Mulligan said.
