One Person Has Died in Crash
The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office reports that one individual died in a crash involving seven automobiles that happened Tuesday morning close to the Freehold Raceway Mall.
It happened near the crossroads of Business Route 33 and Route 9 at roughly 10 a.m. Witnesses said that a driver on Route 9 driving north struck other cars, trucks, and vans head-on because the driver never stopped for the stopped traffic at the light.
Before the collision, the driver might have experienced a medical emergency.
When the collision occurred, Jaclyn McLaughlin's husband was waiting for a light in his van. He was unharmed.
He claimed to have heard someone speeding down the street. When he heard the disturbance, he was parked at a red light on Route 9 heading north and was staring in his rearview mirror, according to McLaughlin.
He remarked, "I tried to swerve around it and go in reverse, but I couldn't make it."
For five hours, Route 9 North remained closed while the investigation and cleanup proceeded. Nothing further is known about injuries. Investigators are prosecutors in Monmouth County.
