Wind Gusts of up to 60 mph are Possible, Resulting in Power Outages
Forecasters are predicting thunderstorms in the Garden State Tuesday evening into Wednesdy with wind gusts of up to 60 mph capable of knocking out electricity.
According to the
National Weather Service, alerts for Hazardous Weather Conditions has been issued:
Flood Watch in effect from January 9, 01:00 PM EST until January 10, 06:00 PM EST
Hazardous Weather Outlook
High Wind Warning in effect from January 9, 06:00 PM EST until January 10, 04:00 AM EST
Coastal Flood Warning in effect from January 9, 05:00 PM EST until January 10, 10:00 AM EST
Governor Phil Murphy has issued a State of Emergency effective at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 9 in anticipation of severe storms causing hazardous weather conditions including heavy rain, high winds, and flash flooding
The DOT also advised drivers to exercise extreme caution, especially if driving a high-profile vehicle. It's also a good idea to secure any unsecured outdoor items.
