Foggy Disaster: Boat Runs Aground at the Jersey Shore
According to Toms River Police Department, over the Memorial Day weekend, a boater heading south became disoriented in the fog and ended up on the sand at Ortley Beach.
According to Lt. Gene Bachonski, the boat was reported wrecked and abandoned on Saturday at Dune Terrace at the end of Holiday Road.
According to Bachonski, when they located Khalid Hakin, the owner of the boat, he informed them he was heading south and intended to reach Florida, but he got lost in the fog.
The boat was removed from the beach, and no one was hurt.
