Ocean County Tragedy: 29-Year-Old Victim of Fatal Boat Capsizing
According to authorities, a boater lost their life after their vessel overturned in Jackson Township over the weekend.
According to the
Jackson Police Department, the victim was an Old Bridge resident, age 29.
Around 2:25 p.m. on Saturday, authorities received a report that a boat had sunk on
Prospertown Lake and that one of its occupants was missing, according to police. Multiple agencies cooperated in the reaction, according to police, but as of Sunday morning, the boater remained missing despite the deployment of vessels and divers.
Due to bad weather and darkness, the search was put on hold late Saturday night and then picked back up early Sunday morning, according to the police.
According to authorities, the person was discovered on Sunday just before 4 p.m. and will be examined by the Ocean County Medical Examiner's Office after death.
