Florida Residents Flee to New Jersey Amid Hurricane Threat

Prior to Hurricane Milton, a significant number of Floridians have been attempting to flee to New Jersey; the commotion has been exacerbated by rumors of limited airline availability and skyrocketing airfares.

It is anticipated that the hazardous storm, which has been oscillating between a Category 4 and Category 5 hurricane, will make landfall on Wednesday.

In Florida, where a state of emergency has been proclaimed for more than 50 counties, weather forecasters and officials have been warning of impending danger. On Monday, mandatory evacuations were implemented for many zones.

Airports in Florida are experiencing pandemonium due to the hurricane, as one might anticipate. Some, like the airports in Tampa and Orlando, will cease operations completely, while others intend to keep an eye on the storm and take appropriate action if needed.

According to Flightaware.com, more than 1,000 flights have been canceled in the United States as of Tuesday morning. Travelers traveling to or from Florida can amend their tickets on a number of carriers, including American carriers, Delta Air Lines, Southwest Airlines, and United Airlines, for no additional cost.

Finding a plane ticket has proven to be extremely tough, according to numerous visitors who are trying to escape Florida for other areas like New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Among them are residents of the Garden State who were on vacation or in college when the hurricane alerts were issued.

Among them were residents of River Vale, Edison, Maplewood, Stewartsville, and Maplewood. They told News 12 New Jersey that they were able to find tickets back home, but it took some luck and scurrying. One traveler claimed that the cost of his flight was over $600, which was significantly more than it had been before to the hurricane warnings.
