Important Dates for Fall Leaf Collection in Toms River 2024

The township's leaf collection schedule is published, so Toms River residents who have started tidying their yards for the fall can mark it on their calendars.

The public works department of Toms River will start collecting bagged leaves the week of October 28. Each recycling day will have two pickup weeks.

Compostable brown paper bags are now being accepted by the town for curbside leaf collection. The bags are available for purchase at a number of Toms River hardware stores.

LEAF COLLECTION SCHEDULE

The collection schedule is based on your recycling pickup day.

They come through each area of the township twice during fall leaf collection.

** have leaf bags to curbside by 6:30 a.m. on the Monday of your collection week**

First Collection Week Second Collection Week

If your recycling day is on a Monday. Oct. 28th Nov. 25th

If your recycling day is on Tuesday. Oct. 28th Dec. 2nd

If your recycling day is on Wednesday. Nov 4th Dec. 9th

If your recycling day is on Thursday. Nov. 11th Dec. 16th

*NEW* For fall the Township is starting a pilot program to cut down on single use plastics.

We are now accepting COMPOSTABLE BROWN PAPER BAGS for curbside leaf collection.

By using the compostable brown paper bags everything placed curbside for leaf collection can now be recycled thus eliminating the use of any non-compostable items in leaf collection.

This increases efficiency in collections, is overall better for the environment and helps keep Toms River Township clean.

They are available locally at a variety of stores including:
  • Home depot,
  • Lowes
  • Costco
  • Bj’s Wholesale,
  • Walmart
  • Amazon.
  • Tree and shrub cuttings and branches shouldn't be in bags. They can be brought to the recycling convenience center located at 1672 Church Road in Toms River.

    At the start of the collection week, bagged leaves must be at the curb by 6:30 a.m.
