Compensation Sought by Woman Behind Iconic "Watch the Tram Car" Announcement

If you've ever been on the Wildwood boardwalk, you've probably heard Floss Stingel remark, "Watch the tram car please."

According to Stingel, the recording was made in 1971.

She claims that for over 50 years, she has never received payment for using her voice.

According to CBS news, Stingel has never been paid and has never granted anyone permission to use her voice.

Stingel revealed she is suing the city of Wildwood and multiple other parties for compensation on Tuesday while standing on the boardwalk with her lawyer. After stores began selling plush tram car toys with her voice last year, Stingel says she is now coming forward.

"They're making money on the toys, and I don't get anything out of that," she stated.

According to Emeka Igwe, Stingel's lawyer, the tape was produced prior to copyright protections.
