Anticipated Storm Could Bring Significant Rainfall to NJ

This week, a storm is expected to sweep into New Jersey, bringing with it high gusts and the potential for localized flooding, along with up to 3 inches of rain.

Widespread rain is expected to saturate the state on Tuesday and linger for the majority of Wednesday, if not all of it, according to the National Weather Service.

According to the National Weather Service, there will likely be more rain on Wednesday afternoon, with 2 to 3 inches predicted throughout the state. Some thunder might potentially be heard, especially in South Jersey.

"On Wednesday afternoon and evening commutes from the Carolinas to southern New England, an intense band of rain may develop with gusty winds that can really hinder travel," according to AccuWeather. "Intense rain and the possibility of urban flooding could be accompanied by thunder and lightning."

Precipitation will just be rain, not snow, because the temperatures will be warmer than the recent cold. On Wednesday night, a cold front will roll in after the storm passes. New Jersey shouldn't experience rain turning to snow, though, as the storm is expected to pass swiftly.
