Barnegat Township Police Department received a 9-1-1 call on December 12, 2024, from a distressed boater indicating that their vessel was sinking in proximity to Sun Harbor Marina. Upon reaching the scene, patrol units were unable to find the individuals from the shore.

Fortunately, Lieutenant Ryan, who was off duty, employed his personal boat to assist in the search. Officers successfully located two individuals and their dog in the frigid waters after their boat had fully submerged. The prompt actions of the team ensured that all were brought on board safely and transported to the Barnegat Public Docks.
