Latest Updates on the Upcoming Weekend Storm in New Jersey
The most recent forecast predicts that another winter storm will hit our region this weekend, bringing up to 2 inches of snow to most of the Garden State.
According to
National Weather Service forecasters, the state will see light snowfall late Friday and into Saturday. For South Jersey, an advisory might be issued with minor accumulations.
In its briefing on Wednesday morning, the National Weather Service stated, "Elsewhere, likely an essentially non-event."
Forecasters at AccuWeather warned that the storm, which is moving toward us from the south, might turn north.
AccuWeatherChief Meteorologist Jonathan Porter stated, "From Saturday to Saturday night, such a storm would not only bring a significant amount of snow to cities like Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia, New York City, and even Boston,
but it would also increase winds along the coast on par with a major nor'easter." "But even though this scenario is much less likely—let's say it has only a 15% chance of happening—it still presents a serious enough threat to warrant careful monitoring."
The track most likely runs somewhere between this northern one and one that runs directly east. In that scenario, there will probably still be a few inches of snow and slick roads in South Jersey.
New Jersey is expected to receive 1 to 3 inches of snow, according to
AccuWeather forecasters.
It will remain extremely cold in the interim. On Thursday, the wind chill could make it feel like below zero.
Following that, there will be light winds to reduce wind chill and a very slight increase in temperature, reaching the mid-30s.
