Breanna is homeless and 25 years old. She has had a very hard life. Both of her parents died of overdoses when she was a young teenager, and she herself became addicted to drugs, winding up in a coma from withdrawals just a little over a year ago. She has been clean and sober for over a year now and wants to become a speaker at rehabs to help other addicts get clean. I told her my own story of alcoholism, homelessness, and being shot in the head, finding Jesus, and having my life turned around as a result. This gave her great hope. But first, we have to help her get back on her feet. She ran out of funds and lost the hotel room she was staying in yesterday as a result. She was at Social Services all day yesterday, but at the end of the day, they told her they’ll be in touch and didn’t help her stay off the streets. She has no ID and no car. Her usual work is cleaning homes, but she has no car to get around to work. I made sure she has a place to stay for the next two nights but cannot afford anything past that, unfortunately. At least she’ll be out of the snowstorm when it hits. I have reached out to all of my personal contacts to try to get her help and am waiting to hear back. It takes a village to help sometimes.
