Top Jersey Shore Pizzeria Recognized as New Jersey's Best
The well-known internet celebrity and self-described pizza expert Dave "El Presidente" Portnoy traveled to South Toms River to provide another of his "one-bite" pizza critiques.
On Thursday, Portnoy posted a review of PaciDough's Pizza Joint on Atlantic City Boulevard (also known as Route 9) on Facebook. Owners Anthony and Donielle Pacitti founded
PaciDough's in the little strip mall south of Water Street in Toms River nine months ago.
The pizzeria gained notoriety fast; on February 1, it was declared the winner of Pizza Bowl 5, a competition started by Guy Madsen, the founder of the
Jersey Pizza Joints group, to "try" to decide who in New Jersey creates the best pizza.
The South Toms River Borough Council recently recognized PaciDough's, located at
312 Atlantic City Blvd. in South Toms River, for winning Pizza Bowl 5.
Pizza Bowl helps the families of first responders who lost their lives in the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center by collecting money for the
Tunnel To Towers Foundation. According to Madsen, Pizza Bowl 5 raised $23,000.
