Janice Marie Rourke, 62, of Seaside Park, New Jersey, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2025. She will be remembered for her free spirit, thoughtfulness, and love of nature.
Born in 1963 to Janice and Bartholomew Palumbo, Janice had an adventurous soul from an early age. She was drawn to both the beauty of the natural world and the workings of the human mind and body. She loved the beach, the woods, and the simple pleasures of being outdoors.
Janice worked as a Pharmacy Technician and pursued her interest in medicine. She later earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Kean University.
She is survived by her husband, Dan Rourke Sr., with whom she shared four decades, her five children—Rachel, Rebecca, Michael, Clayton, and Dan Jr.—her mother, and her brothers, Daniel and Jeffrey.
Janice also shared a special bond with her beloved dog, Maisy, who was rarely far from her side. Friends and those who knew her will remember her as a vibrant, creative individual who followed her own path and loved her family.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St, Toms River, NJ 08753 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers or donations, the family asks that you honor Janice’s memory by embracing life’s small joys, seeking beauty in the world around you, and living with the same sense of freedom and curiosity that she carried throughout her life.
