Prepare for Stormy Weather: NJ Faces Heavy Rain and Gusty Winds
Rainfall is expected to be between one and two inches from now until Friday .
Severe weather is moving toward us from the southeast. The winds will increase from the ocean, and a coastal storm will develop. In addition to keeping the atmosphere moist, frequent wind gusts of 20 to 30 mph will keep the temperatures cool for this time of year.
On Wednesday and Thursday, the weather deteriorates, with rainy spells and significantly lower temperatures. Over most of the state, highs will only reach the mid- to upper 50s before dropping into the upper 40s to low 50s at night.
The
National Weather Service predicted that the temperature would be colder than usual for late May and that the two-day period will see between one and one and a half inches of rain.
Lows in the low to mid-50s and highs in the low to mid-70s are typical for this time of year.
According to the meteorological service's morning forecast discussion, Wednesday afternoon is the best time to expect rain breaks.
Additionally, Wednesday night into Thursday is predicted to be windy, with potential gusts of 30 to 40 mph. According to
AccuWeather.com, winds will be most visible around the Jersey Shore.
