Jersey Shore Pop-Up Party Shutdown Due to Social Media Buzz

Seaside Heights Police
A planned pop-up party was being blocked by borough officials in court as Seaside Heights shops set up tables and stocked up on clothing and game prizes for the Memorial Day weekend.

According to Seaside Heights Business Administrator Christopher Vaz, the borough was given an injunction on Tuesday by Ocean County Superior Court against those in charge of planning the illegal party, which had been advertised on TikTok and Snapchat for over a week.

According to Vaz, the injunction was being served on the party organizers in Basking Ridge and East Orange.
Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial kickoff to summer all along the Jersey Shore, and there have been years where the weekends have been rowdy, often in part because it coincides with prom season.

Issues that Seaside Heights has occasionally faced throughout the years have gotten worse as a result of pop-up events. In 2024, a false report of gunfire led to mayhem and the arrest of 90 persons, including 12 children aged 17 or under.

The previous club Karma, which has since closed, had several problems with underage drinking and overdoses in 2018 and fights and boisterous conduct in 2023, which resulted in a curfew at the time. Police had to deal with many altercations to begin the weekend in 2012.
In order to reduce post-prom parties, Seaside Heights implemented a stringent curfew and, in 2024, an ordinance that limited short-term rentals from April 15 through June 30 by requiring at least two adults (21 or older) or one adult (25 or older) on the property.

Over Memorial Day weekend, Vaz added, the curfew and other restrictions will be tightly enforced.

Under the borough's curfew, those under the age of eighteen are prohibited from the streets and boardwalk from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. every night, with the exception of children who are returning home from work or who are with their parents or guardians.
According to Vaz, "all minors will be directed to turn around and go home," "We will enforce from the streets and the beach."

The police will be on the road "actively checking for overcrowding and rental age violations in apartments, motels, and rental homes," he added.

"This is the straightforward message: Dear Parents, Keep your children at home. We are not your babysitters. As their parents, you will be held responsible if your kid causes a problem, ," Vaz stated.
The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, New Jersey State Police, and other law enforcement agencies were informed by Seaside Heights detectives who identified the party organizers, he added.

According to Seaside Heights Police Chief Thomas Boyd, the FBI, Ocean County Sheriff's Department, and State Police will assist the borough in resolving any problems promptly and discouraging misbehavior before it begins.
