Sunday and Monday Bring Possible Thunderstorms to New Jersey
New Jersey will see sporadic showers and thunderstorms on Sunday due to a cold front, and by Monday, the temperature will drop.Through Sunday evening, rip currents with waves of three to five feet continue to pose a serious risk. It is highly recommended that beachgoers use extreme caution and refrain from swimming.
The forecast calls for thunderstorms and sporadic afternoon showers, mostly west of the I-95 corridor.
Although there is still little chance of severe weather, there may be brief, intense rain in certain places. Highs in the low to mid-80s will continue to be warm and muggy.
The front will shift offshore by Monday night, bringing with it a much drier and colder air mass.
Overnight lows will be in the mid- to low-sixties, marking a sharp decline in temperature.
With highs in the 70s and notably decreased humidity, Tuesday will be much colder.
With highs in the 70s to low 80s and nightly lows mostly in the 50s, the rest of the week appears to be dry and seasonable.
There are pockets of unusually dry weather in the area, according to the National Weather Service, and these could become problematic in the upcoming weeks.
With low humidity and warm temperatures predicted to last the entire week, the extended forecast points to a prolonged pattern of September-like weather.
