Tragic Discovery: Body Found in South Jersey Park
According to local authorities, the body of a man who had been missing for almost a week was found at a park in Atlantic County.
According to Northfield police, Jefferson Smith, 55, was last heard from on September 9. He was listed as endangered and missing. According to authorities, Smith's body was discovered on September 18 in a remote, forested part of Birch Grove Park in Northfield.
The police noted, "The Northfield Police Department asks to keep Mr. Smith's family and loved ones in your thoughts during this sad time."
Police also expressed gratitude to all those who helped with the search, including community members who contributed their own efforts and provided leads.
Police stated, "It was evident that the community cared for Mr. Smith."
The case is still under investigation, and no other information was made public.
