According to Facebook, a popular Spring Lake Heights ice cream shop was temporarily closed Saturday evening after an SUV crashed into its building.

Hoffman’s Ice Cream, a summer staple since the 1980s, reopened on Sunday morning after the building was deemed safe, the management announced on Facebook.
The collision happened at 5:24 p.m., according to Spring Lake Heights police Chief Edward Gunnell, after a 79-year-old driver pulled into the parking lot and believed he had put the car in park.

"Fortunately, neither the driver nor any employees were hurt," Gunnell said. "Fortunately, the building was empty during a typically busy time of day."
