17-year-old Driver has been Charged with Murder of Two Teen Girls

According to a statement from the Union County Prosecutor's Office, a 17-year-old juvenile has been charged with murder in connection with the hit-and-run murders of two teens in Cranford on Monday night.

Two counts of first-degree murder have been brought against the unnamed Garwood juvenile.
On September 29, 2025, at approximately 5:26 p.m., the Cranford Police Department arrived on Burnside Avenue in response to a complaint of two young girls riding an e-bike being hit by a car. When they arrived, they discovered two injured teens who were taken right away to nearby hospitals, where they were later declared deceased.

Members of the Cranford Police Department and Union County Prosecutor's Office have arrested the driver of the involved vehicle after a thorough and drawn-out investigation.

One of the girls who died had been stalked in the weeks before her death, according to neighbors who spoke to local news sources.

On Tuesday, friend Tammy Carbajal told CBS-2, "She complained, but nothing was done." "It is merely a tragedy."

Authorities were informed about the alleged stalker, according to another neighbor who spoke to Fox 5 New York.

Investigators are looking for any witnesses or video of the Jeep before or after the crash, authorities said. Those submitting information to the prosecutor’s online and phone tips line are eligible for a reward of up to $10,000 if the tip results in an arrest and indictment.

Tips can also be submitted anonymously by phone at 908-654-TIPS (8477) or online at www.uctip.org.
