Support Jen Matera and Her Boys After Tragic Loss

Support Jen Matera and her boys

In Loving Memory of Matt Matera

Tara Safar is organizing this fundraiser.

Supporting Jen Matera, MJ and their unborn son.

On Sept 10, 2025, our beloved Matt passed away unexpectedly at just 36 years old. the unexpected and tragic passing of Matt Matera, a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend, leaves behind his wife Jen, their 2.5-year-old son MJ (Matthew James), and a second baby boy due to arrive this November.

Matt a devoted husband was the love of Jen’s life, her best friend, and her entire world. He was a gentle soul with a kind and generous heart. His greatest joy in life was being a dad—playing cars with MJ, holding his wife close, and dreaming about raising two boys together.

His kindness and loyalty left a lasting impression on everyone he met. His loss is felt deeply by all who knew and loved him. He was hard-working, driven by a deep passion for buying and selling cars, and had an incredible eye for the next great find. That love for cars lives on in his son MJ, who already points out every vehicle on the road with the same spark in his eye—just like his dad.

Now, Jen faces the unimaginable: raising her two boys without the man who was supposed to be by her side. She is an incredible and devoted mom, doing everything she can to keep Matt’s memory and legacy alive in their children. But this sudden and heartbreaking loss has left her not only grieving but also facing significant financial strain.

This GoFundMe has been created to help ease the financial burden Jen is now carrying on her own. As she navigates this painful journey, Jen needs all the love, strength, and support we can offer.. Let’s rally around Jen, MJ, and her unborn baby boy with compassion and remind them they are not alone.

Your donation, no matter the size, will directly support Jen, MJ, and the birth of the new baby during this devastating time. Whether you can give or not please consider sharing this page, and keeping the Matera family in your thoughts and prayers.

Matthew's Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Matthew Michael Matera, of Brick, NJ, who died at his home on September 10, 2025, at the age of 36.

Matt was born in Point Pleasant, New Jersey, and later moved to Cape Coral, Florida, where he spent much of his childhood and graduated from high school. As a young man, his adventurous spirit took him to Lake Tahoe and then Redondo Beach of Southern California with his boys, before eventually returning to New Jersey, where he built a life with his beloved wife, the love of his life Jen Matera.

Matt was a proud resident of Brick, NJ, where he and Jen were raising their 2.5-year-old son, Matthew James "MJ". The couple was also joyfully expecting their second son this coming November.  Matt and Jen enjoyed relaxing at home and lived a life together full of love with their family and dog Denali.  Matt had a gentle, loving spirit, and a calming presence that was adored by all that knew him.

Matt had a deep passion for the automotive industry and spent his career doing what he loved most—buying and selling cars. He was employed for many years as the Owner and Operator of Triple M. Motors in Point Pleasant.  However, most recently, he had the joy of working side by side with his brother, Jimmy Matera, strengthening not only their business partnership but their bond as brothers.

He is survived by his loving wife Jennifer V. (Harmer) Matera, his loving son Matthew James Matera, and their unborn son; his mother, Geraldine Matera of Las Vegas; his brother James Matera and wife Tara of Brick; his sister Dena Matera of Truckee, CA; his nephews Xander, Massimo, James of Brick; nephew Rhythm and niece Melody of Truckee; his mother in law Virginia Hamer of Point Pleasant; and several cousins and dear friends. Matt was preceded in death by his father, James Matera and all of his grandparents.

Matt’s kind heart, quiet strength, and deep love for his family will be missed beyond measure. He was the love of Jen’s life, her best friend, and her soulmate. His legacy will live on through his sons and the countless lives he touched.
