Ocean County Tragedy: 16 Year-Old Boy Killed in Fiery Head-On Collision

According to Jackson Township Police Department,in a horrific head-on collision between a pickup truck and a car in Jackson on Wednesday, a 16-year-old boy lost his life and two others were hurt.

According to the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, at approximately 5:55 p.m., a 2019 Ford F-150 struck the boy's 2009 Nissan Altima while it was traveling west on East Veterans Highway. Authorities said the pickup truck, driven by an 18-year-old girl, was traveling east when it veered into the westbound lanes close to Westlake Court.
According to Jackson Police Chief Michael Kunz, witnesses pulled the 16-year-old from the Nissan after the crash caused it to take fire and began performing CPR on him until emergency personnel could reach the scene.

The teenager, whose identity has not been made public, was severely injured in the collision. According to authorities, the teen passed away from his wounds after Jackson EMS transported him to Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus in Lakewood, where police and firefighters continued their attempts to save him.

According to the prosecutor's office, the 18-year-old driver of the pickup and her unnamed passenger were both sent to Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus for minimal medical care.
There was no mention of a passenger in the 16-year-old's car.

Jackson police and the Vehicular Homicide Squad of the prosecutor's office are still investigating the collision. The Jackson School District said the teen who died was a student at Jackson Township High School.
