NJ Braces for Nor’Easter: Wind Gusts Up to 60 MPH Anticipated

severe weather alert

NJ Braces for Nor'Easter: Wind Gusts Up to 60 MPH Anticipated

Forecasters warn of a potentially powerful coastal storm that could hit New Jersey with gusts of up to 60 mph, up to 5 inches of rain, beach erosion, coastal flooding, and more.

Though it might resemble a strong winter nor'easter without the snow, the storm might develop into a designated tropical storm.

According to the National Weather Service, moderate to major tidal flooding, very dangerous marine conditions, strong to damaging winds are likely.

Even though the storm isn't expected to make landfall in the Garden State until Sunday into Monday, forecasters are worried that it might be a terrible event. The possible course of events remains undetermined.

The Jersey Shore is where the worst of this will occur. Inland residents, however, are not immune, as strong winds of 30 to 50 mph and significant precipitation are also predicted there.

Trees and power lines could be brought down by severe winds, and offshore waves could be as high as 10 to 20 feet.

According to the National Weather Service, early models predict that the region will have 1 to 2 inches of rain overall, with local totals of 3 to 5 inches.

Residents along the coast will want to keep an eye on the forecast's changes. Check the lastest forecast.
