According to state police, troopers arrived at the scene on the northbound turnpike near milepost 1.3 in Carneys Point Township at approximately 12:45 a.m. on Sunday.
According to authorities, the casualties were 19-year-old Yaakov Kilberg of Lakewood, who was operating a Mazda SUV in the left inner lane, along with his passengers, 18-year-old Lakewood residents Aharon Lebovits and Shlomo Cohen, and 18-year-old Chaim Grossman of Fallsburg, New York.
According to authorities, the southbound Mazda collided head-on with a Dodge pickup driven by a 41-year-old Colorado man who was heading north in the turnpike's southbound lanes. The driver of the Dodge was seriously hurt.
Police said the driver of the semitrailer, a 29-year-old man from Nova Scotia, Canada, was unharmed. Following the collision with the Dodge, a Freightliner that had been in the right lane behind the SUV struck the Mazda.
