Driver Charged with DUI After Hitting Teen on E-Bike in Ocean County

According to the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, a man from Brick Township is charged with driving under the influence after striking a youngster on an electric bicycle on Saturday night in Brick and failing to stop.

William Donohoe, 43, is accused of driving under the influence, assault by automobile, and willfully fleeing the scene of a car accident that caused significant injuries just before 11 p.m. Bradley D. Billhimer, the prosecutor, stated on Saturday.
According to officials, the collision occurred near the intersection of Midstreams Place and Midstreams Road.

According to officials, investigators found that a Nissan Rogue was heading north on Midstreams Place when it struck a 15-year-old boy riding an electric bicycle as the Nissan was turning left onto Midstreams Road.

According to officials, the Nissan continued traveling west on Midstreams Road. According to investigators, the teenager is still stable after being brought to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.

Investigators concluded that Donohoe was the driver of the Nissan when they spotted him approaching the crash scene from a considerable distance while police were providing treatment to the victim, according to authorities.
According to authorities, Donohoe failed the field sobriety tests that the officers attempted to administer after noticing that he seemed inebriated.

According to investigators, he was apprehended at that time and brought, with a court-authorized warrant, to Brick Township's Ocean University Medical Center for a blood draw.

The blood draw's findings are still pending. While awaiting a detention hearing, Donohoe is being held at the Ocean County Jail.
