Winter Chill Arrives in NJ: Temperature Drop Expected by Thanksgiving

Winter Chill Arrives in NJ: Temperature Drop Expected by Thanksgiving

After the midweek rain passes, a more tranquil period ensues, with temperatures dropping lower as the holiday weekend approaches.

The first part of the week is pleasant, but by Thanksgiving and Black Friday, the weather has drastically dropped.

Late in the week, expect generally sunny skies and windy nights with temperatures in the 20s and 30s.

Early next week, there may be another minor warmth, but overall, the weather is expected to be seasonally cold with little likelihood of rain.
Thanksgiving Day is expected to see a significant drop in temperature following two days of heavy rain, according to the National Weather Service.

On Monday, the sky will be generally clear until the end of the day, when clouds will start to appear.

In most places, high temperatures will drop into the low 50s. Through early Monday afternoon, winds from the northwest will reach gusts of 20 to 25 mph before decreasing.

Tuesday through Wednesday night will be the week's major weather event.

By midday on Tuesday, there will be rain, which will extend throughout Tuesday night and last until Wednesday night.

Tuesday's high temperatures will be in the low 50s in the north and the low 60s in the south of New Jersey.

With highs in the 60s in most places, Wednesday will be the warmest day of the week.
The likelihood of rainfall over one inch is less than 10% regionally, according to the National Weather Service, indicating that this will be more of a beneficial rainfall event than a flooding worry.

As considerably colder air comes in behind Wednesday night's cold front, Thanksgiving Day will bring about a drastic change.

West-northwest wind gusts of 25 to 30 mph are predicted, and the holiday will be dry but breezy and seasonally cool.

Late November temperatures will be below average.

Through Black Friday, the windy, chilly weather will persist.
Winds should lessen during the weekend as high pressure moves into the region on Saturday, but temperatures will still be below average with some moderation anticipated.

The dry weather is expected to last at least until Saturday. Check the local forecast.
