New Jersey Faces Fast Winter Storm Conditions
Many parts of New Jersey are predicted to receive a small layer of snow this weekend due to a fast-moving winter storm system, and the cold temperatures will persist for a few more days.
The state's southwest has the best chance of receiving 1 to 3 inches of snow, according to
National Weather Service forecasters, although other regions may also receive up to 3 inches from Saturday night through early Sunday afternoon.
Additionally, depending on the direction and speed of the clipper system that will be approaching from the west, the snowfall totals may somewhat increase.
In a storm briefing, the weather service's Mount Holly prediction office stated, "There is up to a 15-30% chance that some locations could see around 4 inches or more."
According to the meteorological service's current forecasts, the majority of the snowfall will occur late on Saturday night and early on Sunday morning before tapering off by Sunday afternoon.
The organization stated, "Lows Saturday night into Sunday morning will be primarily in the 20s — plenty cold for precipitation to be all snow or at least switch over to primarily snow."
Forecasters predicted that Sunday's highs will range from the 20s to the low 30s, with temperatures only slightly rising during the afternoon.
Sunday will probably be a chilly, windy day with gusts of up to 30 mph in the afternoon, continuing our extremely cold December trend and making it feel as low as the teens and single digits. Check the latest
