Residents are being warned about possible exposure after officials discovered a measles patient who had visited Newark Liberty International Airport less than a week prior to Christmas Day.

The NJ Department of Health reports that on December 19, a non-NJ resident was at Newark Airport. Anyone who was in Terminals B and C between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. that day could have been exposed, according to officials.

The patient's other whereabouts over those 12 hours were not immediately disclosed.
No new cases had been reported to the DOH as of December 26.

Measles symptoms often manifest three to five days after the onset of symptoms, including a high fever, cough, runny nose, watery red eyes, and rash.
Before visiting any doctor's office or emergency room, people who suspect they may have contracted the virus should contact their local health department or a healthcare professional, according to health experts.

In 2025, this is New Jersey's eleventh confirmed case of measles.

Any updates regarding this potential exposure can be found here.
