Assault on Driver Who Stopped for Pedestrians at Jersey Shore
According to authorities, a driver rear-ended and then assaulted a man who had stopped his vehicle to allow people to cross the roadway.
According to
Lakewood police, the attack occurred on Sunday at 1:20 p.m. at the junction of First Street and Clifton Avenue. According to authorities, callers described the event as a fight.
The victim told police officers he was stopped to allow pedestrians to cross the street when his car was struck from behind by another car.
The victim informed police that the other driver seized him, pushed him to the ground, and dragged him along the road when he stepped out of his car to speak with him. According to authorities, the man had injuries to his face, knees, neck, and ribs.
The other driver then returned to his car and drove away, according to the police. According to authorities, he was last seen traveling north on Clifton Avenue.
According to authorities, the victim was assessed at the site by Emergency Medical Services.
