Tragic Incident: 13-Year-Old Loses Life in Police Chase Crash
According to Mercer County Prosecutor's Office, a 13-year-old girl died from her injuries after a three-vehicle collision in late December that included a stolen car and a police pursuit.
The spokeswoman stated that the child, who has not been named by the authorities, was a passenger in the automobile that was hit by a stolen vehicle on December 19.
The stolen vehicle was heading north on Prospect Street at the intersection of Parkway Avenue at around 7 p.m. that day, according to police, when they attempted to stop it with overhead lights.
Authorities claimed that after attempting to stop the driver, the stolen car fled "at a high rate of speed and in a reckless manner," ignoring a red light, colliding with another car, and ultimately striking a traffic signal pole.
The stolen car was then struck by the officer's patrol car, according to the prosecution.
According to officials, two adults and two children were among the four occupants of the struck car. After responding to the collision, emergency personnel transported the car's passengers to
Capital Health Regional Medical Center for medical attention.
Prosecutors alleged that a female in the car died the next day after suffering serious injuries in the collision.
Two teenagers inside the stolen car were taken into custody and charged by police after the collision. The names of individuals accused were not made public by the authorities.
