Two Storms Forecasted to Bring Snow to New Jersey
According to the most recent forecast, two storms could bring snow to New Jersey over the weekend as Arctic air hits the state and creates freezing temperatures.
Forecasters from the
National Weather Service predicted that wind chills would be in the single digits by Friday morning. According to AccuWeather, this is because the polar vortex has been active.
According to Paul Pastelok, lead long-range meteorologist at AccuWeather, "the jet stream will develop a large buckle over the next couple of weeks with a northward bulge along the Pacific Coast and a southward dip centered on the Great Lakes." "This setup stretches the polar vortex, sending persistent warmth near the bulge and repeated shots of cold air through the dip."
The Garden State may get snow as a result.
A weak system is the first chance of snow on Saturday, according to
National Weather Service forecasters. While the remainder of the state won't receive any snow, the northwest corner of the state might receive up to a half-inch. The prediction solely calls for rain in certain locations.
"The second more organized system has more high-end potential but also could end up being nothing, depending on the track of an area of low pressure offshore Sunday into Sunday Night," forecasters from the National Weather Service stated.
Although there is still uncertainty, the likelihood of precipitation is between 35 to 45 percent at the Jersey Shore and 25 to 35 percent inland.
According to the
National Weather Service, there is a 25–35% possibility of one inch or more of snow along the coast as of Thursday morning, and a 10% chance of more than three inches.
