NJ Residents: Check the Latest Snow Map for Weekend Storm
Forecasters estimate the difference in the outcome might be as little as a few miles on the storm track. A powerful winter storm that is predicted to batter southern states may or may not bring considerable snow to New Jersey over the weekend.
New Jersey has a 40–50% chance of receiving at least 4 inches of snow, according to the
National Weather Service Mount Holly office. Forecasters predict that the totals will be higher closer to the coast.
According to
Accuweather, which classified the storm as a bomb cyclone, coastal New Jersey is likely to receive 3 to 6 inches of snow, while North Carolina and New England are expected to experience the storm's heavier snowfall.
"What we know: The highest snow totals will be along the coast, if any," the Mount Holly office stated. "On Sunday, there is a growing chance of severe coastal flooding and high winds from the north to the northeast. The precise volumes and timing of snowfall are unknown. Snow accumulations may stay primarily offshore, stay contained close to the coast, or move inland to the I-95 corridor and beyond.
Snow prospects have "greater uncertainty farther up the coast" except in southeast New England, according to the National Weather Service Weather Prediction Center. Keep up-to-date with the latest weather
forecast in your area.
