My name is Arielle Vizzini, and I am a very close family friend of the Martinez family. I have known them for over 25 years—I grew up alongside them, and they are truly like family to me. Today, I am asking our community to come together for their 13-year-old daughter, Mia Martinez, who resides with her family in Howell, New Jersey.

While returning home, Mia was struck by a vehicle directly in front of her home as she was crossing the street. She was rushed to her local trauma center, where doctors quickly realized that only a fraction of her injuries were initially visible.

She will remain hospitalized for the foreseeable future as doctors fight to give her the best possible chance at life.

Mia is one of five siblings. She is a beloved sister to Ashley, Alex, Johnathan, and Mateo, and a proud aunt to her 2-year-old niece, with a new nephew expected in the coming months. She is a kind and loving young girl who loved to dance and spend time having fun with her family and friends. Like most teenagers her age, Mia has many friends who care deeply about her, and she is also a top student in her class, known for her bright spirit and gentle heart.

As unimaginable as this situation already is, the financial burden that will accompany Mia’s recovery is overwhelming. Mia will require multiple surgeries in the near future, with additional procedures likely as she continues her fight. Beyond that, she will need extensive long-term care, including—but not limited to—Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Cognitive Therapy, Neurological Care, and Pain Management therapies.

At this time, there is no way to estimate the total cost, as Mia remains in extremely critical condition.

This fundraiser has been created to help alleviate the immense financial stress that the Martinez family will soon face. All funds raised will go directly to Mia and her family to support her medical care, therapies, treatments, and long-term recovery needs.
