Peanut Butter Recall Affects 40 States Including New Jersey

The Food and Drug Administration advises residents of New Jersey to look through their cabinets for single-serve peanut butter items as they can contain plastic fragments. Read More

The recall covers 22,000 goods made by Ventura Foods and distributed to distributors, primarily under private labels, in 40 states. These products include peanut butter packets and small cups that include peanut butter and jelly.

Following the discovery that blue plastic fragments had infiltrated the products during manufacture, the products were first recalled on April 30, 2025.
The recall was recently classified as Class II by the FDA, meaning there is a higher chance of negative health effects.

According to the FDA, private-label companies like US Foods, DYMA Brands, Flavor Fresh, Sysco House Recipe, Katy's Kitchen, and Gordon Food Service were selling the recalled goods.

  • Creamy peanut butter packets, in sizes of 0.5-ounce and 0.75-ounce cups, and 1.12-ounce packs.
  • Twin packs combining creamy peanut butter with strawberry jam, in 1.12-ounce and 1-ounce cups
  • Twin packs combining creamy peanut butter with grape jelly, in 1.12-ounce and 1-ounce cups
  • Additionally, Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Wisconsin were among the states where the products were distributed.
