Massive Winter Storm Expected to Bring 24 Inches of Snow to New Jersey

A blizzard warning is in effect for seventeen counties. As a huge winter storm slams into the Garden State, Governor Mikie Sherrill has proclaimed a State of Emergency.

According to Sherrill, 10 to 20 inches of snow are anticipated, with the most intense precipitation occurring around the beaches on Sunday night and Monday morning.

She stated on Saturday that "the blizzard conditions and the strong winds make this storm more risks than the prior one."

Depending on the circumstances, NJ Transit CEO Kris Kolluri stated on Saturday that his organization will make every effort to keep buses and trains operating on Sunday and Monday. "You should work from home on Monday if you can, and we will supply the service safely," he stated.

The National Weather Service issued a blizzard warning for 17 counties from 1 p.m. Sunday to 6 p.m. Monday.

A winter storm warning is in effect for the remainder of the state from 10 a.m. on Sunday until 6 p.m. on Monday.

Additionally, a coastal flood warning is in effect for a large portion of the beach.

Coastal counties under a blizzard warning may experience wind gusts of up to 55 mph, according to forecasters.

Forecasters warn that snowfall rates may surpass 2 inches per hour.

According to the NWS, "Travel might be very difficult to impossible starting Sunday afternoon." Visibility may be considerably diminished in areas where snow is blowing. Tree branches could be brought down by gusty gusts.

According to experts, the amount of snowfall could be considerably higher due to snow drifts and strong gusts.

Monmouth and Ocean counties may receive up to 20 inches of snow, while coastal areas in the northern half of the state may receive more than 15 inches.

In the mountains of northwest New Jersey, the first flakes are predicted to fall at around 6 a.m. on Sunday. In other parts of the state, they are predicted to fall between noon and 10 p.m.
