Celebrating Strawberry the Camel’s 6th Birthday at Popcorn Park Refuge

Happy 6th birthday to Strawberry!

This sassy lady is full of energy, curiosity, and confidence, and has come such a long way.

After facing serious health challenges earlier in life, Strawberry came to Popcorn Park in need of specialized care.

With close veterinary support and lots of dedication from our team, she has made an incredible recovery.

Now she’s thriving, stealing hearts, and lovingly nicknamed “Strawbs”.

Strawberry is enjoying her second winter at Popcorn Park! Having previously lived on a farm in Pennsylvania, "the cold never bothered her anyway..."

Bactrian camels like Strawberry (the two-humped kind!) are especially well-suited for snowy, cold temperatures thanks to their thick fur, fat reserves stored in their humps for energy, and broad feet that help them move easily over snow and sand. They can even eat snow for water... guilty as charged!

And don’t worry, Strawberry always has access to a warm indoor space whenever she chooses.
