According to the National Weather Service, confidence is increasing that severe thunderstorms, some potentially significant, will impact the region Monday afternoon and evening.

The primary hazard is expected to be damaging winds, though a few tornadoes will also be possible.

In addition to the potential for severe storms, widespread heavy rainfall is expected which could lead to localized flash flooding. Now is a good time to review your severe weather plan.

Strong winds over forty miles per hour are possible during storms. In intense downpours, one to two inches of rain may fall. Visit Accuweather for more information.

Heavy rain and thunderstorms will reach the state early on Monday as a warm front pushes temperatures into the 60s.

A cold front is expected to move over the state on Monday night, with gusts of up to 50 mph.

“We can not rule out the potential for weak tornados to develop,” the weather service said.

Although quantifiable accumulations are not anticipated, rain may momentarily mix with or transform into snow due to the cold front's temperature drop.

Tuesday is expected to be somewhat colder, with highs of about 40 degrees.

Wind chill values may plunge into the 20s and 30s throughout the day on Tuesday due to gusty winds, making it feel even colder. Check out the latest weather forecast.
