Substantial Warmup is Expected in NJ
According to the National Weather Service, high temperatures are predicted to reach the mid-60s on Monday afternoon, the upper 70s on Tuesday, and the low 80s on Wednesday, indicating a significant warmth. The bad news is that as the week goes on, there will be a few chances of rain in addition to the spring heat.
Forecasters predicted largely dry skies with southwesterly winds of 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 20 mph on Monday. However, as a warm front moves northward on Monday night, a few showers could occur.
Continued warming is expected on Tuesday, along with strong southwest winds of 15 to 25 mph, which will be highest in the afternoon and evening.
In portions of New Jersey, Wednesday is predicted to be the warmest day of the week, with lows in the 80s.
As a cold front moves closer, showers and thunderstorms are expected late on Wednesday and into Wednesday night. Forecasters are keeping an eye on the possibility of severe weather with that system.
On Thursday, there will be a significant cooling off as temperatures return to the 50s in northern New Jersey and the 60s in southern parts of the state, and there is still a risk of rain.
According to the forecast service, Friday seems to be the best opportunity for more extensive rain as low pressure moves along a blocked frontal boundary close to the area.
Depending on the front's location, significant temperature swings might occur throughout the state by Saturday, with 50s to the north and east of the Interstate 95 corridor and 70s to the south and west.
