NJ Weather: Showers and Thunderstorms Could Disrupt Easter Plans

This weekend, New Jerseyans celebrating Easter will need to bring rain gear, particularly on Sunday.

On Saturday, particularly in the northern half of the state, weather forecasters predict partly to largely bright skies with a tiny risk of rain showers.

According to the National Weather Service, Sunday is expected to be a much gloomier day with largely cloudy sky and a high likelihood of isolated thunderstorms and widespread rain showers.

Rain is predicted to fall for at least a few hours, beginning in the late morning and lasting through the most of the afternoon, even if the entire day won't be wet.

The northern half of the state is expected to see highs in the upper 60s to lower 70s on Saturday, while places south of Interstate 195 are expected to see highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s.
As a frontal boundary approaches from the west late on Saturday afternoon, showers and potential thunderstorms may form throughout northern New Jersey; however, a cold front moving southward may restrict the thunderstorm activity, according to the weather service.

There is a slight probability of severe thunderstorms and significant rains in the area on Sunday. Furthermore, there will be strong winds with maximum gusts of 25 to 30 mph.

As high pressure moves in from the south on Sunday night, conditions are predicted to dry out.
With northwest winds gusting to 15 to 20 mph, Monday appears to be dry.

Early on Tuesday morning, a weak front might bring a few sporadic showers, but the coverage looks patchy with little rainfall. Stay up-to-date with the latest forecast.
