The Toms River Police Department, has announced that a seasonal curfew will take effect for juveniles on the barrier island sections of Toms River Township beginning Friday, May 22, 2026.

According to the department, the Township Office of Emergency Management has enacted the curfew effective from 12:00 a.m. on Friday, May 22, 2026, through 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

Under the order, all juveniles ages 17 and under are prohibited from being out in public between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. on the barrier island sections of Toms River Township.

Unless they are going home from work, or with a parent or guardian, all teenagers aged 17 and under must be off the streets by 10 p.m. Medical crises, teenagers traveling to and from productive jobs, religious or educational events, and private gatherings are among the exceptions, according to officials.

Officials say the seasonal curfew is intended to help maintain public safety and reduce disturbances during the busy summer months. Residents and visitors are encouraged to be aware of the restrictions and ensure minors comply with the curfew hours throughout the summer season.

The police department advised that enforcement will remain in effect through Labor Day weekend into early September.
