The 2026 Special Olympics Summer Games officially opened on Friday, June 5, transforming The College of New Jersey’s Lions Stadium in Ewing into one of the most inspiring athletic stages in the state. Thousands of athletes, families, coaches, volunteers, and supporters gathered for a weekend celebrating competition, unity, and inclusion.
The New Jersey State Police took part in the opening ceremony, standing proudly alongside athletes whose determination and sportsmanship embody the spirit of the Games. Their participation also aligned with the statewide Law Enforcement Torch Run, a signature tradition that helps ignite the excitement of the weekend.
