Authorities claimed that a plane that took off from Ocean City crashed in a forested area of Maryland, killing three people.

According to a news release from Maryland State Police, all three individuals will be identified after notifying their next of kin.

A single-engine Piper Cherokee carrying a pilot and two passengers was traveling to Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Saturday when it crashed into a forested area in Bowie for unclear reasons, according to authorities. No other injuries were reported.
An iPhone crash alert reporting a collision near Route 50 and 301 was received by Prince George's County Public Safety Communications at approximately 11:45 p.m., according to police. A search for the aircraft was carried out by several first responders both on the ground and in the air.

According to officials, the jet was discovered on Sunday at around 3:45 a.m. close to a residential neighborhood in Bowie, Maryland.

According to investigators, the aircraft is owned by a Montgomery County flight school. The aircraft may have been taking part in a training mission, according to the police.
